Description

Getting back into the swing of things after taking an "I don't care" hiatus for 10 months. This is actually from the fourth informal photo shoot I've done this summer and the first one I've done at the beach. (Advantages to living 3 miles from the second largest lake in North America)

This my friend who is both a dancer and has done professional modelling in the past. This was towards the end of the shoot, she was "begging" to get wet and we were getting the gorgeous sunset you see in the back. First time I've ever tried doing shots like this.

Camera was on full manual, shoe mounted flash. Only problem with shots like this was 1) I always shoot at the level of my subjects (unless I'm doing something specific) which means laying down or squatting, 2) I wasn't planning to get wet, 3) suddenly, my butt crack feels wet!! Fortunately, my wife (and most wonderful assistant) was holding the spare batteries this time!

Looking for critiques, thoughts, and recommendations, especially from those that have done beach shots like this before.

Thanks and enjoy!

finally a proper going over the picture. I like some of the layout. I think her pose is great having the rock behind her is good. However, I feel she is small in the picture. Cropping it up a little bit at the very least would benefit it a lot. It looks like you don't know what you want to focus on, her or the sunset. Skimming the top would be a good idea. I like tat she is in the water, it adds to the quality of the picture. The lighting is fairly good too. She might be a little over lit, but that could be worked with. I like too that she is off center in the picture. Over all a good piece. Keep up the exploration.
